The BMP-3 is a tier 6 Armored Fighting Vehicle originating from the Soviet Union, and is sold by Sophie Wölfli. It can be unlocked from the BMP-2, and leads to the BMP-3M.
Features
- Subtle movement: moving on a low speed doesn't reduce your camouflage factor.
- Designated target: vehicle has the ability to designate targets that are within line of sight and vision range. Designated targets are called out and takes increased damage.
- Waterproof: this vehicle can remain longer under water.
- Recon package: this vehicle's recon package provides an improved vision range when stationary.
Player Recommendations
Heavily armed and fast, the BMP-3's light armor means that it's best suited for flanking and destroying preoccupied targets. While possessing an excellent camo rating and view range, its large size and lack of gun depression mean that finding a suitable, concealed position for spotting and engaging enemies can be difficult.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Excellent burst rate of fire
- High mobility
- High camo rating
- Well protected against HEAT with Kaktus ERA
Cons
- Minimal protection against AP
- Low penetration on all but ATGM
Upgrade Suggestions
As the BMP-3's stock missiles are easily countered by composite or reactive armor, which are very common at and above tier 6, unlocking and equipping the upgraded missiles and autoloader should be a priority, because they are the main means of damage output. Following that, installing the Kaktus ERA kit will increase survivability against HEAT and autocannon fire. As the stock BMP-3 is already very mobile, upgrading the engine can be left for later.
Retrofit Suggestions
- Advanced Fire Control
- Advanced Muzzle Reference System
- Improved Gun Breech
Commander and Crew Skill Suggestions
- Commander: Rashid Al-Atassi, for reduced missile reload times.
- Driver: Smooth Ride, Off Road Driving
- Gunner: Quick Draw, Sharpshooter

This comprehensive survival package provides extensive ERA coverage of the lower glacis and hull sides, with cage protection on the real portions. The turret has highly angled pricks covered by ballistic skirts, and a combination of steel appliqué and cage on the rear. The ERA offers a few hundred millimeters of resistance, and the cage offers high ATGM survivability. |

History
Created by the Soviet Union, this infantry fighting vehicle serves as a successor to the BMP-1 and the BMP-2. Development of the BMP-3 began in the 1980’s, incorporating parts from the prototypes Object 685 and Object 688. Entering service in 1987 with approximately 2,000 units produced for both domestic and export markets, the BMP-3 continues to be used by various militaries.
