Features[edit | edit source]

  • Heavy armor: this vehicle's armor bounces more shots and takes more hits.
  • High caliber: the high caliber weaponry deals an increased damage.

Player Recommendations[edit | edit source]

With strong DPM, turret armor, and penetration, the WZ-1224 is well suited for hull down warfare, having the mobility to push positions and even act as a makeshift flanker, due to its low profile. However, fighting over ridges is very difficult, as its below average gun depression makes exposure times much longer than vehicles such as the M1 Abrams.

History[edit | edit source]

The WZ-1224 was a prototype MBT designed as a replacement for China's aging fleet of Type 59 variants. During development, it was chosen to use a prototype 120mm smoothbore cannon instead of a 125mm Soviet inspired cannon, and an engine and suspension that took inspiration from Western models. Other features such as a cast turret and a new autoloading ammunition system were also added to the WZ-1224. During trials, the use of so many new technologies begun to backfire, as problems arose with the loading mechanism, engine, and turret. It was due to these continued problems that the Chinese Army decided to end the development of the WZ-1224, and instead focus on the design of the Type 80 series.
