The T-64A mod. 1976 is a tier 5 Main Battle Tank originating from the Soviet Union, and is sold by Marat Shishkin. It can be unlocked from the T-64A mod. 1969, and is currently the end of the T-64 branch in Armored Warfare.

Features[edit | edit source]

  • Heavy armor: this vehicle's armor bounces more shots and takes more hits
  • High caliber: the high caliber weaponry deals an increased damage
  • Smoke Generators : generated a smoke screen around the vehicle

Player Recommendations[edit | edit source]

As a modernization of the powerful tier 4 variant of the T-64 platform, the T-64A mod. 1976 retains the powerful frontal armor and speed of the mod. 1969, while gaining a more accurate gun, improved mobility, and an armor upgrade which can provide excellent protection against incoming HEAT and ATGM fire. A hybrid brawler and sniper, the T-64A excels at both, being one of the most capable MBTs at its tier.

Pros and Cons[edit | edit source]

Pros[edit | edit source]

  • High alpha
  • Excellent turret armor
  • Good Mobility

Cons[edit | edit source]

  • Poor hull armor
  • Mediocre gun depression

Upgrade Suggestions[edit | edit source]

Upgrading to the Kontakt-1 ERA package will provide a strong defense against ATGM fire, so it should be unlocked and equipped early. Upgrading the ammunition and researching the Improved Autoloader will heavily increase the effective firepower of the vehicle, so they should be researched sooner rather than later. While the 5TDFM O-P Diesel Engine offers a decent upgrade over the stock engine, the stock engine allows the T-64A to keep up with a battle without too much of a hassle.

Retrofit Suggestions[edit | edit source]

  • Advanced Muzzle Reference System
  • Augmented Optics
  • Improved Gun Breech
  • Improved Pioneer Tool Kit
  • Improved Spall Liner

Commander and Crew Skill Suggestions[edit | edit source]

  • Commander: Juan Carlos, to improve the aim speed and crew stats.
  • Driver: Spin to Win, Off-Road Driving
  • Gunner: Sharpshooter, Do the Twist

Stock Stock 205/80/50 Combination K Composite Armor + Glass-Reinforced Plastic (Textolite Laminate) 475/175/65 Steel Insert None
The Soviet Union’s attempt to create the most advanced tank of the time, the T-64A uses an early form of composite armor on the upper glacis, with composite inserts in the heavily armored steel turret front. This offers protection against HEAT shells.

This ERA package offers protection to the front and sides of the hull, and the front half of the turret. While Kontakt-1 is an older form of ERA, it still proves effective against HEAT rounds and ATGMs, and also provides marginally better protection against kinetic rounds.

History[edit | edit source]

The T-64A was the first production model of the T-64 which saw service with the Soviet Armed Forces. It served as the base model for updates to the T-64 platform for the next thirty years, until the Russian Ground Forces reorganization after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Currently, over half a dozen nations still use T-64 variants in their armed forces, with the largest user being Ukraine.
