The FV107 Scimitar is a tier 1 Armored Fighting Vehicle originating from the United Kingdom, and is sold by Sophie Wölfli. It leads to the BMP-1 and LAV-150.

Features

  • Subtle movement: moving on a low speed doesn't reduce your camouflage factor.
  • Designated target: vehicle has the ability to designate targets that are within line of sight and vision range. Designated targets are called out and takes increased damage.
  • Auto cannon only: vehicle is armed with an auto cannon only.
  • Recon package: this vehicle's recon package provides an improved vision range when stationary.

Player Recommendations

Relying on mobility to survive, the FV107 Scimitar is an agile AFV with a 30mm autocannon capable of shredding MBTs from the sides and rear. Using excellent mobility and camouflage to its advantage, it can easily outflank strong enemy positions and ambush lone enemies. Care should be taken though, as the vehicle's armor is not suitable for heavy combat.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Excellent burst damage
  • Highly mobile
  • Excellent camouflage

Cons

  • No effective armor
  • Main gun is severely inaccurate when fired rapidly
  • Low penetration can only be used for side and rear attacks on MBTs

Upgrade Suggestions

Upgrading to the 30mm L14A3 APFSDS ammunition gives a significant boost to penetration, allowing for more effective fire against heavily armored targets. The Tb.3544 Diesel Engine boosts agility, improving overall vehicle mobility and lethality. The Improved Ammo Feeder will allow for more sustained fire of the 30mm at short range.

Retrofit Suggestions

  • Advanced Muzzle Reference System
  • Advanced Fire Control
  • Augmented Optics

Commander and Crew Skill Suggestions

  • Commander: Sabrina Washington, for improvements to camo rating, view range, and accuracy
  • Driver: Smooth Ride, Off-Road Driving
  • Gunner: Sharpshooter, Quick Draw
  • Loader: Rapid Fire, Explosive Shells

History

The British-built FV107 Scimitar is an armored reconnaissance vehicle that varies only slightly from its predecessor, the FV101 Scorpion, with the two often being deployed in tandem. It entered service in 1971 and has served faithfully ever since, undergoing a number of modifications over the years to extend its lifespan. The FV107 Scimitar is currently operated only by the United Kingdom, and has seen combat in Western Asia and Southeastern Europe.
