The FV101 Scorpion 90 is a tier 4 Light Tank originating from the United Kingdom, and is sold by Marat Shishkin. It can be unlocked from the FV101 Scorpion, and leads to the M551 Sheridan.

Features

  • Invisible movement: motion does not reduce camouflage factor.
  • Designated target: vehicle has the ability to designate targets that are within line of sight and vision range. Designated targets are called out and takes increased damage.
  • HESH: can even penetrate armor with large hit angles.

Player Recommendations

The FV101 Scorpion 90 is a light tank with mobility typical of the class. Using its speed and mobility, it can flank to unload into the sides and rears of slower vehicles, with the caveat that its base accuracy does not allow for long range sniping. It is also an excellent counter for other flankers, as its high explosive squash head rounds wreak havoc on lightly armored targets.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Fast and maneuverable
  • HESH rounds can cause devastating damage to lightly armored targets.
  • Good camouflage and view range

Cons

  • Minimal effective armor
  • High Explosive rounds with inconsistent damage to armored enemies
  • Frontally mounted engine
  • Poor Accuracy

Upgrade Suggestions

Upgrading to the Improved Gunner Sight and 90mm CTS-90 Mk.3 APFSDS ammunition will increase freedom in choosing how to deal with more heavily armored targets. The Tb.3544 Diesel Engine will boost vehicle mobility. Upgrading the firepower of the vehicle even further with the 90mm CTS-90 Mk.2 HEAT rounds and the Improved Ready Rack increases effective damage output.

Retrofit Suggestions

  • Advanced Muzzle Reference System
  • Advanced Fire Control
  • Augmented Optics
  • Improved Gun Breech

Commander and Crew Skill Suggestions

  • Commander: Sabrina Washington, for improvements to camo rating, view range, and accuracy
  • Driver: Smooth Ride, Off-Road Driving
  • Gunner: Sharpshooter, Quick Draw
  • Loader: Rapid Fire, Explosive Shells

History

Class: Light Tank
Developed: 1980s
Service: 1982+
Vehicles Built: cca 240
Operators: Malaysia, Venezuela, Nigeria and Indonesia

In the 1980s and early 1990s, the Scorpion was still in service of several countries but by this time it was growing increasingly obsolete. Instead of just phasing it out, these countries opted to have it upgraded with a 90mm CMI gun in a modified turret along with a complete refit of the original vehicle. This way, the Scorpion continues to serve in the 21st century.
