The Challenger 1 Falcon (In-game as Chall. 1 Falc.) is a Premium tier 8 Main Battle Tank originating from Jordan. It is a Premium Vehicle sold as part of one of the new Collector's Editions. This is a special event premium vehicle that can only be purchased during special sales events.

Player Recommendations[edit | edit source]

The FALCON should be played like a tank destroyer, albeit lacking the stealth, view range, and mobility of one. The armor (other than front of the turret) is extremely weak, and when coupled with bad mobility makes it extremely poor at CQB firefights. The turret, while poorly armored, is very narrow, well sloped, and covered in a very thick mantle that offers surprisingly good protection; should a round make it through, the turret is unmanned, similarly to the Terminator series or the EXP tank. The narrowness of the turret and placement of the gun and autoloader modules do make them vulnerable to damage, however, so getting cannon durability is a good idea. It has a rather potent DPM (losing only to its Russian and Chinese counterparts) and is accurate even with a low-level crew. The shells themselves lack damage output, though the good penetration and 8-second base reload somewhat compensate for this. However, only commanders and retrofits can improve the autoloader fire rate. Good gun angles coupled with the turret design enable the FALCON to handle well in hull-down, though the limited mobility and low hull armor makes it vulnerable in the open, or if an opponent rush its position.

Pros and Cons[edit | edit source]

Pros[edit | edit source]

  • Premium vehicle with increased credit and reputation earnings
  • Comes with a unique camo
  • Unmanned turret, so it takes less damage should a round go through
  • The frontal turret armor is covered by an extremely thick "mantle" capable of resisting even tier 10 rounds
  • Good gun depression angles
  • Autoloader, so it has max DPM even with a level 1 crew
  • Very high DPM for an MBT; loses out only to Russian and Chinese MBTs
  • Very good accuracy and aim time
  • Good health pool

Cons[edit | edit source]

  • Poorly armored hull roughly on par with tier 6 MBTs,though a patch made the Challenger series driver's viewport very thick
  • Very low mobility
  • Poor damage per shot
  • Gun and autoloader can be damaged very easily, as the entire "mantle" houses both
  • Autoloader, so its DPM can only be increased by Commanders or Retrofits
  • Poor camouflage
  • Can only be purchased during select events

The Challenger 1 Falcon utilizes the standard hull with a low profile unmanned turret that retains the strong composites on the frontal arc. This reduces weight while retaining protection, improving both vehicle and crew survivability.

History[edit | edit source]

A successor to the Chieftain line of vehicles, the Challenger 1 was developed in the late 1970’s by the United Kingdom. Although this main battle tank was eventually superseded by the Challenger 2, modifications have been made to the Challenger 1 by the Jordanian Army, specifically, the addition of the unmanned Falcon turret. The Challenger 1 Falcon features a 120mm smooth bore gun, a lower profile, and additional protection for its crew.
