Contents
Features[edit | edit source]
- Subtle movement: moving on a low speed doesn't reduce your camouflage factor.
- Adjustable suspension: allows you to adjust ground clearance manually.
- Waterproof: this vehicle can remain longer under water.
Player Recommendations[edit | edit source]
Commonalities between the BMD-2M and BMD-2 include a 30mm autocannon, lack of armor, and a low profile. However, the BMD-2M has two distinct improvements. The first of these is its vastly superior engine, which allows for higher acceleration. The second is the installation of a new missile system capable of firing a salvo of two ATGMs within a short period. These make the BMD-2M a much better flanker than the BMD-2.
Pros and Cons[edit | edit source]
Pros[edit | edit source]
- Excellent acceleration
- Small silhouette
- Good camouflage
- Good maneuverability
- Excellent gun depression, compared to the BMD-4
Cons[edit | edit source]
- Zero effective armor
- Can wind up exposed when firing off both missiles at long range
Upgrade Suggestions[edit | edit source]
Upgrading firepower in the form of the Improved Thermal Sight and the Improved Ammo Feeder will increase the hit and run capabilities of the vehicle, and offset some of the reload time between missile salvos. Upgrading Rapid-fire Smoke Launchers Mk.1, which will improve the lifespan of BMD-2M drivers when used properly, should be next.
Retrofit Suggestions[edit | edit source]
- Advanced Fire Control
- Improved Gun Breech
- Electro-Optical Absorbing Paint
- Augmented Optics
Commander and Crew Skill Suggestions[edit | edit source]
- Commander: Sabrina Washington, for improvements to camo rating, view range, and accuracy
- Driver: Smooth Ride, Off-Road Driving
- Gunner: Quick Draw, Sharpshooter

Because the BMD-2M only features armament improvements over the standard BMD-2, its armor provides negligible protection against even light autocannon fire. |

Developed: 2010-2014
Service: 2014+
Vehicles Built: unknown, estimates vary from 30 to 300

Faced with a serious funding shortage, the Russian Airborne forces (VDV) were forced to start upgrading a portion of their obsolete BMD-2 IFVs with a new "Bereg" combat module, featuring modern FCS with thermal imaging and a new Kornet-M ATGM launcher. The program is ongoing with 600 vehicles scheduled to be upgraded to this standard by 2021.
