The BMD-2 is a tier 5 Armored Fighting Vehicle‏ originating from the Soviet Union, and is sold by Marat Shishkin. It can be unlocked from the BMD-1P and leads to the BMD-4.

Features[edit | edit source]

  • Subtle movement: moving on a low speed doesn't reduce your camouflage factor.
  • Adjustable suspension: allows you to adjust ground clearance manually.
  • Waterproof: this vehicle can remain longer under water.

Player Recommendations[edit | edit source]

At its core, this vehicle has a distinct difference from the previous BMD models: a 30mm autocannon, instead of the low velocity 73mm gun. Instead of two large damage hits, the BMD-2 relies on a single large damage hit from its ATGM launcher, and a burst of low damage hits from its 30mm. This makes it important to flank heavily armored vehicles, even more so than with the BMD-1 and BMD-1P.

Pros and Cons[edit | edit source]

Pros[edit | edit source]

  • Low profile
  • Good mobility
  • Excellent gun depression, compared to BMD-1 series

Cons[edit | edit source]

  • Zero effective armor
  • Poor penetration on 30mm forces you to get behind targets
  • Stock engine can feel sluggish

Upgrade Suggestions[edit | edit source]

Upgrading to the 5D20-300 Diesel Engine will improve mobility on the battlefield, compared to the stock engine. The BPK-2-42 Sight, Improved Ammo Feeder, and respective ammunition upgrades will significantly increase the firepower of the vehicle.

Retrofit Suggestions[edit | edit source]

  • Advanced Fire Control
  • Improved Gun Breech
  • Electro-Optical Absorbing Paint
  • Augmented Optics

Commander and Crew Skill Suggestions[edit | edit source]

  • Commander: Sabrina Washington, for improvements to camo rating, view range, and accuracy
  • Driver: Smooth Ride, Off-Road Driving
  • Gunner: Quick Draw, Sharpshooter

The BMD-2 is only a firepower upgrade from the previous design, and as such provides negligible protection against even light autocannon fire.

History[edit | edit source]

This Soviet-era airborne infantry fighting vehicle was developed as a replacement for the BMD-1. It is armed with a 30mm 2A38 automatic cannon, which has a wide elevation range. This means that the BMD-2 can fire on both air and ground targets. The lightweight construction also allows the vehicle and crew to be air-dropped into the field. The BMD-2 was produced from 1985 until the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. With decades of active service, it has primarily seen combat in Eastern Europe and Western Asia.
