The Stryker platform is named after two separate Medal of Honor recipients, one from the Second World War and one from the Vietnam War. The Stryker platform was based on the MOWAG Piranha III design and was developed specifically to meet the needs of the U.S. Army. The M1134 is an advanced missile Tank Destroyer based on the Stryker chassis, used in the U.S. Army Stryker Brigade Combat Teams to enhance the unit's firepower against enemy armor. While only lightly protected, its main strength light in the advanced model of the BGM-71 TOW missile launcher, allowing it to knock out practically every armored target it encounters on the battlefield.
The Stryker has been (ironically, much like the Sheridan) plagued by controversies and various issues. The Stryker is too light for counter-insurgency operations, offers little protection from mines and RPGs, it's also generally cramped, unstable (due to being too tall) and prone to overheating. With the War on Terror over, the U.S. Army is currently reorganizing itself for more conventional warfare and Stryker Brigade Combat Teams are gradually being phased out.
Vehicle Traits[ | ]
- Marksman: This vehicle can fire advanced ammunition from its accurate weapon, allowing it to destroy enemy armor at long distances.
- Top-Down ATGM: This vehicle can launch special ATGMs that target the enemy's most vulnerable area - the roof.
- Fire and Forget: This vehicle features advanced ATGMs that, when a target (ground or flying) is locked, home in on it without having to be controlled manually.
- Missiles Only: This vehicle is only armed with anti-tank guided missiles or unguided rockets, making it only viable in mid-to-long-range combat, since both are often difficult to aim at short distances.
